FEATURED HOME

This residence is a transitionally designed modular build just off Washington D.C.’s distinguished Foxhall Road. Our client was an interior designer, and she worked closely with SSB and GTM Architects to bring her dream home into fruition. The 4,400 square foot labor-of-love boasts a plethora of custom features unique to the home. In keeping with DC’s classic, embassy style architecture, the exterior of the home makes use of cast iron, with Mediterranean stucco and stone. A warm richness can be found on the exterior windows, where an oil-rubbed bronze finish adds a sense of depth and capitalizes on the Mediterranean feel.

Inside, the owners had a fundamental need of creating cozy and inviting spaces, while crafting a matchless experience for entertaining and relaxation. The overall design philosophy embraces the interplay of texture, by juxtaposing raw materials, stone, wood and sparkle. Such a wedding of materials brings about dramatic warmth throughout the three-story home.

The open-plan kitchen and family room has been designed to promote glamour and comfort. Notable features within the space include a customized 14’ island, which doubles as a secondary dining option, and a two story fireplace, which amplifies the spaciousness of the room and draws the eye upwards to a beamed ceiling, adding architectural interest within the space. With no detail left unturned, every inch of the home tells a story of elevated glamour and functionality. From the built-in bookshelves around the bedroom’s ambitious custom headboard and upholstered walls, to the powder room’s mother of pearl walls, and tailored onyx sink, the team brought quality and splendor to every nook of the home, and truly created a unique experience.
