Gold Award | Renovation Over 2,000 sf

This home was originally built by Sandy Spring Builders in 2008 and was a gold winner in the 2009 MNCBIA Custom Home Awards. When the new owners bought it in 2015, they wanted the original design and builder team to do their renovation. This traditional French country home was transformed into a fabulous contemporary home, retaining the original front elevation and rear pool area while making the interior feel like a completely different home. Although the front façade remains the same, once you step through the heavy wood front door, you enter a home that is light, contemporary and elegant.

Gold Award | Custom Traditional Home

The owners of this home wanted it to look like it had been in the Colony Hills neighborhood for years. To achieve that goal, they used an antiqued brick façade with dentil moldings for the cornice and a front porch above the covered entrance. The entrances into the rooms on the first floor were all arched and cased openings, and the color theme of turquoise and green chartreuse are carried throughout. The living room has enameled turquoise paint that make it a bold statement with a traditional setting. The family room with coffered ceiling has beautiful doors that look like French doors to the rear terrace, when they are actually folding doors that open up the entire room the outside. An electric awning was added for shade on sunny days.

Gold Award | Custom Transitional Home

When the owners of an older brick Colonial home on a corner lot facing Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland decided it was time for a new home, they did not want to give up their convenient location. So they had the old home deconstructed, and started with a clean lot.

The clients wanted the new design to fit in with the charming architectural homes in the well-established neighborhood, so they chose to go with a stucco façade and terracotta roof. Every detail of the new home was studied and thought out so that the end result was a beautiful home with elegant interior finishes and a stunning backyard retreat and pool. The home is truly transitional with its traditional elevation and its updated, graceful interior.
