This month’s featured home was built as a spec home on a small cul-de-sac in the Edgemoor neighborhood of Bethesda. Literally just a short walk to everything that downtown Bethesda has to offer, this stucco home was designed with an eye towards traditional architectural shape with transitional elements that really gave it that “WOW” factor. As you enter the home, the contemporary open-rise stairs with continuous custom metal rail are a very special feature. And with 10-foot ceilings, 9-foot-tall glass windows and 7-inch white oak hardwood floors, the main level is really quite dramatic. The home features a gorgeous gourmet kitchen which opens to the family room, screen porch with fireplace, and outdoor kitchen. The owner’s suite has a walk-out deck that is perfect for a morning up of coffee or meditation. The 3rd floor oasis has a balcony with spectacular city views of the nearby church steeple and downtown Bethesda. The home quickly caught the eye of our homebuyers who were just moving to the area.

Featured Neighborhood

Edgemoor

Our featured home is located in the Edgemoor neighborhood of Bethesda, just west of downtown Bethesda. It is within walking distance of the restaurants and shops of Bethesda Row and surrounds and offers a short commute to downtown Washington and Northern Virginia. The Bethesda Metro station is close by, and a bustling social life is available through the Edgemoor Club and the Edgemoor Citizens Association, which sponsors events throughout the year. Edgemoor was established in the early 1900s and has always drawn its identity from its proximity to downtown Bethesda, according to the Edgemoor Citizens Association. It wasn’t until the past decade or so, when downtown Bethesda grew into the bustling center of commerce and nightlife that it is today, that the neighborhood acquired its “panache”. Sandy Spring Builders has had the unique distinction of building more new homes and renovations than any other builder in this neighborhood, with several under construction and a few recently started, as well as others in the planning phase. And we are proud sponsors of the Edgemoor 5K race and the local Central Farm Markets (Sundays at Bethesda Elementary School).
