Stone and shingle homes evoke images of Colorado mountain lodges. And while for many homes, the traditional combination of Western cedar and stone foundation/columns is the perfect mix, others like to add a different twist. One new take on that combination is to use it on a more contemporary/transitional elevation. Still other homeowners prefer the Nantucket or Hampton’s feel of a washed light shingle with stone skirt and porch. And you can even use that same color mix and add some gables, cornice details, etc. and have a more Arts & Crafts look. Whatever your preferred style or color mix, stone and shingle is a fantastic combination of materials to achieve a warm and inviting elevation to your home.
