Friday Fabulous Home Feature: Engineered and Synthetic Surface Countertops
With so many choices in countertop materials – granite, marble, butcher block, hardwood – modern technology has added some more to select from. Two materials that have made a splash in past years are engineered natural resources and synthetic surfaces. Engineered natural resource tops have brand names like Caesarstone, Cambria and Silestone – both engineered quartz products offered in a variety of colors and varying textures. They are made from combining 90-95% quartz with the balance being resins and pigments. Synthetic countertops are solid surfaces made from man-made materials such as acrylic, polyester resins, or even marble dust. Top brands are Corian, Formica, and LivingStone. So if you’re planning a kitchen for a new home or renovating your existing one, check out some of these exciting countertops from Sandy Spring Builders.
