As we enter an exciting new decade, we hope the new year has you motivated and inspired to make some positive changes, and if you’re like many, getting organized around the house is top of the list! Don’t know where to start? Here are a few tips:

Clear the clutter. Sort items in bins that you can toss, recycle, or give away and add to them over a few weeks. You’ll be amazed by how much space you can create in closets, cabinets, pantries and drawers by removing a few items each day. Can’t decide what to get rid of? Go by the rule that if you haven’t used or worn it in the past year, it can go!

Form habits. There is no better way to become a more organized person (and stay one) than to cultivate habits to help you achieve your organizational goals. Small things like cleaning out the fridge each week before you go grocery shopping can make a big difference.

Tackle a different area of the house each month. Houzz recently published an article that includes month-by-month tasks that helps spread the job throughout the year, which can help if you are feeling overwhelmed! You are most likely not going to accomplish everything in a single day, or even a week. So give it some time! Come up with a schedule, write it down, and stick to it. Start in your kitchen by cleaning out and organizing the pantry. Does your kitchen storage need a makeover? Follow these tips for inspiration.
