It’s 2020 and technology is everywhere in life. From self-driving cars and wrist watches that monitor our health to thermostats that heat or cool our homes before we walk through the door. “Hey, Alexa” and “Hey, Google” are becoming phrases commonly used around many households.

What’s coming next and which trends should you get on board with? The top trends we are seeing are connectivity and integration, along with a few others listed below.

Internet-connected appliances such as refrigerators, televisions and vacuum cleaners are working more seamlessly together, with less human interaction required. For example, when a door is opened, the door should channel the lights to turn on rather than the need for the human to be the translator.

Touchless Toilets

As we are all extra focused on practicing good hygiene and washing our hands amidst a public health crisis, a timely smart home technology trend that is evolving is touchless toilets. They include a sensor for touchless control along with a physical handle and a color changing nightlight – so you always have the option to simply wave your hand and not touch a germy toilet handle.

Smart Light Switches

With new smart light switches, you can set your preferences to schedule times for your lights to turn on and off, and they are voice-activated and compatible with assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri.
