We built this home almost 15 years ago, but the craftsmanship and timeless elegance don’t feel out of date in this custom home in Bethesda. The original owners (since sold twice) wanted their home to feel like a private estate with a gated entry, stone walls and stone steps leading to the arched entrance and a terraced backyard.
The exterior combined stone, stucco with Tudor trim boards in the read, Juliette balconies, and copper gutters and downspouts to give the home an Old-World appeal. Walking into the foyer, the detailed interior woodwork and stained wood trim highlight the craftsmanship that went into every feature – solid wood doors, custom trim, wood beamed ceilings, and patterned hardwood floors. The sophisticated iron stair rails add to the sophisticated charm of this stunning home. The Kitchen and Breakfast Room carry through the artisan theme with hand-sawed wood ceiling beams and stone fireplace surrounds with wood beam mantels. And while the main level has a very traditional style, the Owners went contemporary with their bedroom and closets which featured custom-made cabinetry and wall panels. Still a favorite or ours, and a definite timeless beauty.
